Murray River Wineries

The Murray River area on the whole has the same sunny climate as the Goulburn Valley region and produces quality grapes from the sandy silt plains of the Murray River. There are many small volume hand manicured vineyards in the area which produce high quality traditional Australian style red and white wines.

The CarriagesWine listThe Carriages vineyard and residence is located 20 minutes west of Echuca, Victoria. The residence consists of four lovingly restored railway carriages, dating back to the 1890's. All of the fruit that goes into The Carriages Wines is grown by the Johnson family. The low yielding vines ( approx 2 tonnes per acre) and controlled watering ensures high quality fruit. When the grapes reach optimal ripeness the bunches are hand picked. The wine is then made by Sam Plunkett and David Johnson and spends 12 months in new French and American Oak. Finally each bottle is hand labelled and marked with its own bottle number.
