Nagambie / Heathcote Wineries
 | At an elevation of 500 metres above sea level, Heathcote has a climate of mostly sunny days with cooler evenings. The vines are mostly drip fed due to the shortage of water and the soils range from very pale shale to terra rossa and volcanic black, all produce full flavoured wines. Heathcote is known especially for its big bold Shiraz’s and full flavoured Cabernet Sauvignon’s, but the region produces some lovely crisp Rieslings and rich Chardonnays as well. Nagambie boasts the record of having the oldest Shiraz vines, which were planted in the 1860’s at Tahbilk winery. It is also known for its Marsanne and has the largest plantings of this variety of grape in Australia. The climate is warm and the River flats provide good soils that produce premium quality grapes |

The superb consistent quality results from the fruit of the vine drawing nutrients from the rich alluvial river flats of the Goulburn Valley, the temperature steady climate of central Victoria and a pinch of the talents of our skilled winemaker. | | Twelve Acres | Wine list | Peter and Jana Prygodicz pride themselves on producing unique wines of a style, which is theirs alone. The name Twelve Acres comes from the fact that the block where the winery is situated, has always been 12 acres in size, even though the surrounding blocks were large, at least a thousand acres. The winery is located in Bailieston, which can be found between Rushworth and Nagambie in an area known for gold and ironbark. Peter and Jana control all the aspects of production from crushing the grapes to bottling and packaging in a winery which runs on solar power and generators. The grapes come in from a number of small grapegrowers, who have special plots for 12 Acres grapes. The close relationship built up with the growers ensures an excellent quality of grapes.
