'Baarrooka' Wines
The word Baarrooka comes from the Aboriginal Daungwurrung language and means: 'like a duck resting on water'. The aim of the Baarrooka Wine Company is to produce distinctive wines, which reflect the soils and climate of the Strathbogie Ranges as well as the particular conditions encountered in each growing season. The vineyard is located at 550m above sea level in hard stony granite-rich soils. These factors combine to create the unique full-bodied wines expected of this region, the vineyard programs are focused on producing low-yielding, high quality grapes of optimum ripeness and flavour, all grapes are hand picked and wines are hand crafted using traditional methods.
